Care and support

A full range of medical support services including nursing, physiotherapy, occupational and speech therapy can all be accessed through resident’s GPs with the help of the nursing staff. Visiting health professionals visit the Home on a regular basis such as chiropodists, dentists and opticians.

The Home offers a free laundry service to all residents. A visiting hairdresser and manicurist also visit the Home. Specialist bathing facilities are available on each floor of the Home and a passenger lift is installed for ease of movement.

The Home also has CCTV installed around the building to safeguard residents and all external fire exits are alarmed. The safety of our residents is of paramount importance to us at Ilsham Valley Nursing Home.

Activities for all abilities

The Home has a dedicated activities co-ordinator who ensures that all residents, no matter what their physical disability are also included in the programme of events. We also use a specialist activities company who visit the Home normally twice a month.

Participation in activities is encouraged but not insisted upon to ensure that residents are able to express their freedom of choice.

The Home also has an extensive DVD library and portable DVD players to allow residents to watch DVDs in the privacy of their rooms if they prefer. Staff routinely take residents outdoors if they wish using the Home’s “buddy” scheme.
